Board of Directors
The Board’s primary duties include the hiring and evaluation of the Director of Education, the setting of the school’s mission, institutional polices, strategic planning, fundraising, accreditation, marketing and advertising, and assessment of the school’s effectiveness in manifesting the mission of Walbridge School.
Steve Huizenga, Chair
Steve Huizenga is a Walbridge parent and brings a variety of experience to the board. The Huizenga family is new to Madison and was excited to find a school that met their son’s needs and has helped him succeed. Steve works as a manager in the IT industry as well as managing commercial real estate. He has also previously held officer positions on both community and a private school boards and is excited to help Walbridge School thrive.
Thomas “Tom” Vercauteren, Member
Tom is an attorney with the law firm Hurley, Burish and Stanton, S.C. Tom focuses his practice on estate planning, nonprofit law, and general business and real estate law. Tom graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2009, cum laude. Having recently returned to the Madison area with his wife and daughter, Tom is excited about the opportunity to become more involved in the community.
Tyler Lynch, TReasurer
Tyler is a commercial real estate broker at Oakbrook Corporation. He graduated from UW-Milwaukee in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in finance. After graduating, Tyler returned to Madison to work in real estate and become more involved in the community. Tyler is an avid golfer and reader.
Melissa E. Gower, Secretary
Melissa is a teacher at Walbridge School. She comes to the board with experience in both education and business having worked for many years at American Family Insurance as a Commercial Underwriter. She sits on the board as a liaison between the board and staff to represent the perspective of staff in strategic decision making discussions. Melissa helps to make sure all stakeholders are involved in building and implementing the Walbridge vision.
