Following the retirement of Nancy Donahue, Colleen Lourigan has been named the new Director of Education for Walbridge School. Colleen has taught at Walbridge for more than ten years, and in that time has taught all age groups and many subjects. With a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. in Education from Edgewood College, Colleen is trained in Orton-Gillingham, Project Read, Making Math Real, and Processing Approaches to Learning and Self-Regulation. In recent years, Colleen has been the school’s curriculum and technology coordinator, has spearheaded award-winning environmental curriculum development, and has administered our high school program. As Colleen moves into the director’s chair, she will continue to teach science classes in the high school and also will have some teaching responsibilities in elementary and middle-school grades. This will enable her to be a strong presence in the lives of Walbridge students, while also preserving the majority of her time to provide leadership for the school. Nancy Donahue leaves us strong and in good hands, and she is planning to stay connected to Walbridge in the future by coming back to substitute teach and work on various projects for the school.
